Dr. Pratibha N Sardesai
Head of the Department
She is an Associate Professor and Head of Zoology dept. She joined in the year 1986 and has been teaching UG and PG courses for past 34 yrs. She completed her Ph.D in 1998. She teachers for topics like chordates, non-chordates, embryology and enzymologyfor UG classes and oceanography for PG course. She is the Co-ordinator of vermicompost unit and a member of examination committee.
Ms. Sanika Gupte

She is an Assistant Professor since 2002. She did her M.Sc (Entamology)from Pune University and qualified her CSIR-NET exam in 2001. She completed B.Ed. and iscurrently pursuing her Ph.D. She teaches Histology, Endocrinology, Economic Zoology and Biochemistry to UG classes and is a PG recognized teacher since 2009 by University of Mumbai. She has worked for WDC and NSS as NSS program officer. Currently is member of Science Association.

Dr. Bindu Achary

She is an Assistant Professor since 2006.She has completed her M.Sc (Oceanography) B.Ed, DME and Ph.D. She teaches Animal biotechnology, Genetics, Haematology and Cancer biology for UG courses andPG recognized teacher since 2009 by University of Mumbai. She has worked as In-charge for the cultural committee and also a member of IQAC, Speaker’s Forum and Self AwarenessProgram in the previous years. Currently she is the DBT Co-ordinator of Zoology dept.
Dr. Janhavi A Bhagwat
Assistant Professor
She is an Assistant Professor since 2008. She completed her M.Sc. in Animal Physiology and Ph.D from Mumbai University. She qualified the CSIR-NET in 2006. She is a Ph.D guide recognised by University of Mumbai and her area of research includes Drug discovery and development, Drug interaction and Invertebrate biology. She teaches Biochemistry, Animal Physiology, Toxicology, Geneticsand Instrumentation to UG and PG classes.She is theSecretary of Institutional Animal Ethics Committee, Member of Research Advisory Committee, Assistant Editor for college Magazine ‘Harmony’ and is on the Editorial Board for R.J Herald, a quaterly editorial of the College.

Dr. Geeta Joshi

She is an Assistant Professor since 2009. She has completed her Ph.D in 2002 and has worked with National and International Organizations such as UNDP and National Institute of Oceanography. She teaches Developmental biology, Cell biology and Biodiversity for UG courses and is a recognized teacher for PG course from Mumbai University. She made her contributions to Speakers forum and since 2012 she is the NSS Program Officer of the College unit.

Mr. Deepak Poojary
Assistant Professor
He is as Assistant Professor since 2010. He completed M.Sc (Oceanography and Fishery Sciences). He qualified CSIR-NET in 2009 securing 6th rank all over India. Presently he is pursuing his Ph.D. Malacology and ichthyology are the areas of his interest. He teaches topics like Ethology, Fisheries, Anatomy and Physiology to UG classes and is a Mumbai University recognized teacher for PG courses. He was an active member of the cultural committee and currently is a member of the Gender Equity cell. He is interested in fine artsand is a performing artist, pursuing training in Odissi dance.

Mrs. Sushma Singh
Assistant Professor
She Mrs.Sushma Singh is an Assistant professor since 2010. She did her B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Parasitology) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. She also completed B.Ed and M.Ed. from Aligarh. She qualified CSIR-NET in June 2002 and currently is pursuing her Ph.D. She has teaching experience of 17 Years at UG and 5 years at PG level. Presently, she teaches topics like Sepia, Shark ,Biostatistics, Bioprospecting ,Parasitology to UG class and Genetics to PG course. She has worked in Self Awareness Program and currently a member of Extension unit of the college.

Mr. Bhagirat Mishra

He is working with the department as an assistant professor since 2016. He has completed his M.Sc. in Zoology with specialization in Animal Physiology & Biotechnology. He has qualified CSIR-NET, Maharashtra-SET & GATE exams. He deals with topics like Molecular biology, Genetic engineering, Bioinformatics, Tissue culture, Evolution and Animal Physiology at UG as well as PG levels. He has worked in Self Awareness Program (SAP) committee of the college and currently a member of Extension Unit and also a member of Science association of the College. He is tech savvy with bioinformatics as his forte.
