Introduction

The Department of Physics also started with the College in 1963 but the Research Centre is relatively new. The research activities in the Department commenced in the early 2000 though the formal recognition for the Research Center was obtained in 2016. The Department has research activities in Astronomy, Complex Systems and Material Science. It is equipped with high end workstations meant for computational studies and necessary infrastructure for synthesis of nanomaterials. At present (April 2022), there are three Ph. D. students and this number is expected to increase owing to the increasing number of guides.
