XXVI Dr D V Amonkar Memorial Intercollegiate Elocution Competition 2020-21

Introduction

The Department of Biological Sciences of our College like every year is organising XXVI Dr. D. V. Amonkar Memorial Intercollegiate Elocution Competition.

Due to the prevailing Covid- 19 Pandemic Condition in present situation and the social distancing to be maintained, the Preliminary Elimination round(s) and Semi-final round(s) for this year will be held online. The mode of conduct of final round to be held on 24th August, 2020, will be intimated separately on the Telegram app.

Eligibility

Undergraduate and Post- graduate Science students of Mumbai University only. This year Outgoing final year students of both UG and PG of academic year 2019-2020 are also eligible to take part in the competition.

Requirements

Since the elocution rounds will be held online, it is expected that the participant must have a good internet facility, a desktop or laptop and fairly familiar with online conferencing procedures.

Topics for the Competition

  1. Plants with antiviral activity and possible mode of action.
  2. Role of Traditional Knowledge in fighting Pandemic situations like COVID 19.
  3. Plant resources from Ocean – Prospects and conservation
  4. Sustainable Agriculture- future of farming

Note

    1. The Preliminary Elimination round(s) and Semi-final round(s) will be held online. The dates of these rounds will be intimated later on the Telegram App. (Most preferably the rounds will be held between June 23-July 10, 2020).
    2. Presentation duration will be for 10-12 minutes only.
    3. The registered participant will be required to give his/ her talk alongwith simultaneous sharing of his/ her powerpoint presentation from their computer through the prior mentioned video conferencing app (Preferably Zoom app) on the day of the round.
    4. The link/ mode for the video conferencing alongwith required meeting ID and password with be intimated to the participants via Telegram App 1 day prior to the presentation date.
    5. Participants shall login to the online conference room 1 (one ) hour before the start of the Round so as to get familiarised with the settings, give their attendance and obtain their order of turn for their presentation.
    6. Appointed judges will be judging the presentations online.
    7. Other instructions shall be intimated to the registered participants via Telegram App after the end of registration date.
    8. The last date for registration for the competition is 20th June, 2020, 11.59 pm.
    9. Registered participants who will give their presentation will receive their participation certificate (E- certificate) via Telegram App on or after 24th August, 2020. Winners will be handed over or posted their certificate in physical form alongwith their prize.
