Academic (2007-2008):Mr. Gupta Kuldeep secured admission into Integrated Ph.D Programme at NCBS Bangalore in the yaear 2008. He also secured 10th Rank in IIT JAM 2008 Examination (MSc Biotechnology. Mr. Rajesh Gunage and Mr. Indrabhadur Singh secured 36th and 52nd rank respectively in JNU All India Entrance Exam (Biotechnology) in the year 2007. Mr. Pankaj Dubey secured admission into NCBS-TIFR Integrated Ph.D Programmme in the year 2007 ( he is a first generation learner). Mr. Rajesh Gunage secured admission into MSc Biotechnology at M.S. University of Baroda in the year 2007. Mr. Indrabhadur Singh secured admission into MSc Biotechnology at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in the year 2007. Mr. Mandar Vadgaonkar is currently pursuing M S in Australia. Ms Anusha Satyanarayan cleared her CSIR NET examination in the year 2007. Mr. Chirag Desai has secured admission for Ph.D at MUICT, Mumbai in the year 2007, Mr Pallave K has joined a Food Technology course in New Zealand. Ms Ruchi Masand has secured admission at Belle School of Medicine,USA Miss Ankita Sachala has secured admission at Georgia State University, Atlanta. 50 % of our PG students have got high GRE and TOFEL scores Placements of our PG student have been very encouraging in Industries like Bharat Serum, ADV labs, CIPLA, LABNICS, LUNDVECK, Yashraj Biotech, Ranbaxy, ALChem to name few of them. Students have won several prizes at inter and intercollegiate cultural events. Academic (2009-2010)Ms Anusha Satyanarayan has secured admission for Ph.D in IIT Chennai in the year 2009. Ms. Mugdha Patki M.Sc Part II Biotechnology secured "Gold Medal" in the Inter-University State Level Research Festival "AVISHKAR 2009" in the Category 4 (Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Nutrition, etc.) held at Amravati. Mr. Jitesh Pillai has secured admission for Ph.D in Biology at Florida International University, Miami, Florida in 2009.Mr. Ashish Kawale has secured 39th Rank in IIT JAM-2009. Ms Mugdha Patki has secured admission for Ph.D in Biomedical Science at University of Toledo, Ohio, USA. Mr. Vaibhav Chikne has been welcomed by the LUND University, SWEDEN Department of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology to work on the project "Understanding the Role of enterohepatic Helicobacter spp in the pathogenesis of cholangiocarcinoma and primary biliary cirrhosis" for three months stay from Sept-Dec 2009. Competition (2009-2010)Ms Reshmi Varghese and Ms. Hemali Dhawan has secured First Prize in OZONE FEST organised by Institute of Science on 16th Sept, 2009 in the Poster Competition. Events (2009-2010)S.Y.B.Sc Revised Syllabus Paper II Work shop (Theory and Practica)l was held on 19th June 2009 Friday from 10.a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The workshop was attended by 47 biotechnology teachers from different Biotechnology Colleges affiliated to UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI. M.Sc Revised Syllabus Paper V and VIII Work shop (Theory) was held on 3 July 2009 (Friday fro 10.a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The workshop was attended by 21 biotechnology teachers from different Biotechnology Colleges affiliated to UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI.
Science Fiction Movie Screening: On 12th August 2009, the Science fiction movie " Fantastic Voyage (1966)" was shocased for the students of TYBSc & MSc Part I. (About the Movie: A diplomat is nearly assassinated. In order to save him, a submarine is shrunken to microscopic size and injected into his blood stream with a small crew. Problems arise almost as soon as they enter the bloodstream.) Department of Biotechnology took students of TYBSc Biotechnology to Metropolis Lab, Worli in two batches on 25th and 26thNovember,2009.The students were accompanied by Mrs. Rachana Acharaya and Mrs. Shweta Sachdeva. Department of Biotechnology took 10 students of TYBSc Biotechnology to ACTREC, Belapur on 4th December, 2009 on the occasion of "Open Day" organized by ACTREC and the students were accompanied by Mrs. Shweta Sacdeva. Mrs. Rachana Acharya , Ms. Bhakti Todnkar and SYBSc Biotech students visited Sewage Treatment Plant of Hirandhani Estate, Ghodbunder Road , Thane (West) on 16th November 2009. Mrs. Smruti Thombare and Ms. Tania Moses along with TYBSC, MSc Part I & II students visited Sula Vineyards, Nasik. Dr. Sucheta Golwalkar and Ms. Bhakti Todankar took SYBSC and TYBSC students for industrial visit to AMUL, National Institute for Occupational Health and Hester Biosciences (Ahmedabad, Gujrat) from 16th to 19th December, 2009.
