Students from various socio economic backgrounds are part of the department. Detailed analysis, based on category, annual income and academics is maintained in the department.

 

Changes made in Course during last two years:

 Course of B.Sc. (Information Technology) syllabus will be revised this year.

 

Learning resources of the department:

·        Departmental Library

As the department is yet flourishing, every year new lot of books for the upcoming year is added to the library. Library currently possesses 333 books for the F.Y.B.Sc. class, including Texts and References.

·        Electronics Laboratory

Electronics Laboratory of capacity 30 is available for Information Technology students.

Bread Boards, Power Supplies, Current and Voltage Meters, IC etc. are available for practical sessions.

·        Computer Laboratory

o   Well equipped Computer Laboratory is available for conducting practical sessions and practice for the students.

o   Internet access is given to the students during practice sessions.

o   A laptop computer as well as a LCD projector is available for the students for presentations, seminars and lectures.

 

Modern teaching methods practiced and used:

  • Presentations are used to take up complex topics. Use of figures, charts and animations simplifies the concepts.

  • Group discussions and group activities are conducted.

  • Seminars and presentation of the students on individual as well as group level are organized.

  • Students are encouraged to run a notice board magazine where recent articles on developments in the field of I. T. as well as other interesting current affairs are showcased by the students on regular intervals.

  • Activities encouraging team building were conducted – An invited session by Mr. Raj Gopalan covered “Management Games for Team Building”.

 

Participation of teachers in academic and personal counselling of students

Teachers personally help the students if required. Also, a separate counselling cell is approachable for the students. Lectures on Presentation skills is conducted by Prof Steven Lobo in Sem-I. Several assignments conducted by Prof Mrs. Bhole Bharati, as part of Professional Skill Development Course in Sem-II. Lectures conducted by Prof. Geeta Shashidharan for English language and Grammar and logical reasoning.

The faculty members are enthusiastic and participate in workshops and seminars.

 Prof. Archana Bhide acted as a resource person for the orientation programs conducted by Academic staff college, University of Mumbai in December 2007 for Computer Science (Microsoft Office 2007)

 

Collaboration with other departments/ institution over past two years:

The department helps other departments. It is currently helping in the online admission process for the Junior College students. The department helps in content development for teachers from other departments.
